With all the fighting in Fallujah and problems with insurgencies, I want to know where the contender to the Iraqi presidency is. Ahmed Chalabi should be at the forefront of negotiations for a ceasefire as well as talks with other Iraqi clerical and tribal leaders. His face should be seen in Iraq. If he claims to have any legitimacy as the leader of Iraq, he must interact with the most problematic elements of the insurgency and, at the least, win approval of the Iraqi population as the man who represents their aspirations for order and peace. He must do more than just sweet- talk the White House and the Pentagon. Fallujah is Chalibi's opportunity to prove himself as a leader.
