Now that the campaigns have moved out of New England, I can go back to my normal complaining.
Ethiopia and Eritrea are on the verge of war. Ethiopia's president Zenawi is claiming that the new borders between the two countries that have been drawn up by arbitration are unsatisfactory. He is drumming up nationalist support. The previous war between Ethiopia and the Eritrean who sough independence nearly bankrupted both countries. The conflict also spilled over into other areas, especially Somalia. Bush and his administration have not been engaged with this problem and have offered no real solution, even though a war could threaten oil interests in Sudan. Furthermore, America appears to support both countries on the basis of their "contributions" to Iraq.
